I'm Mia. I'm 17, I'm a senior at Federal Way High School, and somehow I ended up with a little business doing things for my neighbors — walking dogs, running errands, helping people out when they need it.
Honestly it kind of happened by accident. But now it's mine, and I take it seriously.
When I was 15, my neighbor Mrs. Kim needed someone to walk her dog while she had knee surgery. She asked me and I said sure. I showed up on time, sent her a photo after every walk, texted her when I was done. She told people.
A few months later I was walking three dogs, picking up groceries for a family down the street, and helping an older couple figure out their new phones. I don't know, it didn't really feel like a job. It just felt like being a good neighbor.
I found out about MarketFoundry through a workforce program and they helped me actually make it official — real website, real pricing, real business. This summer I'm going all in on it.
Rover and TaskRabbit are fine but they're strangers. I'm not a stranger. I'm the person down the street who already knows your dog's name.
These aren't marketing words. They're the reason my clients keep coming back.
If I say I'll be there at 10am, I'm there at 9:55. Every time. No exceptions.
I text updates without being asked. You never have to wonder what's happening.
Your pets are real creatures. Your time matters. I treat both like they're valuable.
I'm not here for a quick job. I want to be your go-to person for years.
This isn't just a summer job. I'm building something real — and I have a clear picture of what that looks like.
School's out. I'm dedicating the summer to building real recurring relationships with families who need consistent help.
Whether I stay local or go away, I'm keeping this business running. My clients aren't going to lose their person.
Eventually I want to hire other young people in this community who want to build something of their own. This neighborhood gave me a start — I plan to return the favor.
Mia's business exists because local organizations believed in investing in young people. The MarketFoundry Workforce Scholarship Fund provided the training, the tools, and the belief that a motivated teenager with the right support can build something real.
If your company values workforce development and young entrepreneurs in your community, we'd love to recognize your support right here — on Mia's site, seen by every family she works with.
These organizations made Mia's training and business launch possible. Their logos appear here as a permanent thank-you to companies that invest in the next generation.
